Welcome to the Free Legal Advice website, I work for a large retail chain of stores in California. The other day, I was out on a 10-minute break when a customer walked out with about $750 worth of merchandise. As soon as he walked past me, my colleague ran outside, jumped into his moving vehicle, and tried to catch him. This associate was aggressive toward stealing customers, locking them in the store, and even chasing them across the street (in this case, they were both nearly hit by a car). I've even been threatened myself by that fellow. I called my store manager and explained what had happened and he laughed. When I told him I was uncomfortable with this behaviour, he got mad at me and then took me and said my partner and cornered me. I told him this behavior was completely unacceptable and I didn't feel comfortable and he admitted it broke store policy but he rewarded her and sent me home so she could stay and get overtime, even though she wasn't scheduled after a certain time. Is there any way I can report this?
